DistSense / Waste intelligence
Collection based on actual fill levels.
Wireless sensors with up to 5 years of battery life for smarter collection routes, lower costs, and real-time visibility.
REAL-TIME FILL LEVELS

Cities & municipalities
Fewer overflowing containers, current information for residents, and data for cleaner public spaces.
Collection companies
Dynamic routes, fuller vehicles, and up to 30% lower overall collection costs.
Textiles, footwear & e-waste
Reliable oversight of irregularly filled containers, including metal units.
One platform. Three operational realities.
Fill level is not just a number. It is a signal for smarter operations.
DistSense turns container status into clear decisions. Know when to collect, where to send a vehicle, and where to prevent overflow before it becomes a problem.
01 / Cities & municipalities
Cleaner streets, happier residents, and data for smarter decisions
- Visibility of use and fill-rate trends across locations, including underground and semi-underground sites.
- Information about free capacity in recycling containers that you can share with residents.
- Prevention of overflowing bins in parks, at stops, and in public squares.

02 / Collection companies
Efficiency and route optimisation for collection fleets
- Reduce unnecessary trips to empty or partly full containers by up to 50%.
- Save up to 30% of total collection costs through route optimisation and greater vehicle utilisation.
- Easily integrate data with your existing customer information system or route planner.
03 / Textiles, footwear, oils & e-waste
Reliable visibility of containers with irregular fill patterns
- Route planning based on fill level, weight and volume estimates, and other parameters for optimised collection and sorting.
- Exceptional NB-IoT signal penetration even through metal collection-box constructions.
- Optional brackets with screws or rivets for fast installation without risk of damage.

Hardware + software
Sensors for every container. An app for every collection route.
Choose the configuration for your container type, installation, and emptying method. Then monitor all measured data clearly in the web application.

Smart application / web + API
From fill level to a collection decision.
One workspace for container status, emptying verification, route planning, and reporting. View data in the application or pass it to your own system.

Colour coding on the map, fill state in percent, and distance from waste.
Compare actual emptying with the planned schedule.
Fill rate, time at full capacity, statistics, reports, and collection plans.
Organisations, access rights, device configuration, and connections to your system.
Optional: dynamic collection route planning
FAQ / clear answers
Everything important before your first deployment.
01How does infrared laser measurement work, and why is it better than ultrasound?+
DistSense measures the distance to waste using an adjustable infrared laser. Its direction and beam width can be adapted to a specific container. The laser enables accurate measurements with low energy consumption, extending battery life to up to 5 years.
02How is the sensor installed in underground, plastic, and metal containers?+
The sensor is attached using screws or rivets, either directly or with a metal bracket. DistSense Long is designed primarily for larger bottom-emptying containers and textile or e-waste containers, while the compact Mini is suited to litter bins and top-emptying containers of approximately 110 to 1,100 litres.
03How does the sensor transmit data, and does signal work inside metal containers?+
Data is encrypted and transmitted through wireless IoT networks (NB-IoT) to the cloud application. The internal antenna is tuned for reliable reception even in metal containers.
04What are the benefits for collection companies?+
Current fill level helps plan routes according to actual demand. For irregularly filled containers, the system can reduce trips to empty or lightly filled containers by up to 50% and total collection costs by up to one third.
05How does the system recognise emptying or a fire in a container?+
The sensor monitors fill distance, temperature, and tilt. A sudden change in measured distance and tilt supports emptying verification, while the temperature reading can trigger fire alerts.
06Can DistSense data be connected to our information system?+
Yes. Data can be displayed in the web application or shared with your customer platform through an API for your information system, route planner, or reporting.
